OCICAT

The Ocicat, a wonderful family cat, looks like a cat out of the wild but actually has no relation to any wild cat.

Ocicat

Ocicats are very intelligent and devoted cats, they love to play, and love to be loved.

History

The Ocicat is an agouti spotted cat of moderate type. Originating from interbreeding of Abyssinian, Siamese and American Shorthair cats, it is the only spotted domestic breed selectively bred to emulate the cats of the wild.

Ocicat Cinn Silver

The Ocicat was the result of the crossing of a ruddy coated Abyssinian with a seal point Siamese. The one kitten became a large, ivory coloured cat that had golden spots and copper eyes.

Other breeders used the same cross but later the American Shorthair was included in the breeding for the purpose of broadening the genetic base. In 1986 the Ocicat was granted acceptance for Championship show

Description

Qualities of the Abyssinian, Siamese, and the American Shorthair will be seen in the Ocicat as this is the Ocicats ancestry.

Ocicat

It is not a demanding cat by will become a part of the family. It will get along quite well if your household already has other cats or dogs.

Ocicats are easily trained and very sociable but do not like to spend too much time alone.

They are very playful, and this playful inclination coupled with an unmatched curiosity often result in humorous and comical antics. Ocicats are extremely playful, but when playtime is over, they curl up on their owner's lap.

They are happy indoors if space is not restricted, and like to have access to outdoors.
